A Guide to HD-TVI ...
alien Mega Hero Backwards Compatibility... Guide
The Mega Hero is Backward Compatible to old systems and flexible on the choice of Video inputs. The
Mega Hero DVR supports flexible Standard and HD Resolution, not all DVRs and technologies offer the
same flexibility.
For example on most AHD DVR you cannot use 3 x 720P cameras and 1 x 960H. This is because most AHD
DVRs need to have CH 1 and CH 2 on the same resolution and CH3 and CH4 on the same resolution. The
MegaHero has no such limitations.
Similarly many HD-CVI DVRs do not support 960H resolution and require a system reboot in order to support
different resolution cameras.
Why NOT to go for CVI technology?
CVI technology is from just one single DVR manufacture in China and the fact it is a proprietary solution
means it has a lot of inherent risks attached to it. For example if you had a car that the only fuel it ran on was
that car’s manufacturer bespoke fuel, you would probably not buy it. For this reason and it’s our personal
view point to stay well clear of CVI technology.
TVI vs IP
Image Quality HD-TVI 2.0 IP
1080P (now) 8MP in 1080P (& higher)

Low
Other advantages of TVI to IP...
TVI can use COAX, it is very easy to upgrade and also it’s a “closed System or circuit” so the camera connecting
cables are not subject to the risk of network infiltration, virus or other cyber-attacks associated with IP
camera systems. After all it’s why CCTV was called Closed Circuit Television System; it needs to be closed as
it needs to be safe.
The Alien MegaHero DVR also has the ability to connect to some IP cameras so it truly is the best of both
worlds giving the installer huge amounts of flexibility.
